The journey of earth spell

Inspiration

You can see from our meteorite staff, we have always had the idea of making the earth spell, but because the previous designs did not match our expectations. We went through a lot of different designs and tests, and finally made the earth spell.

Design

“We want to be able to summon and shoot with one hand, and also create terrain to block and suppress enemies. We need this spell to create terrain that can be stepped on.That was our first thought when someone mentioned "earth spell".”--Drake(Game desinger)

concept reference

After summoning the dirt block, you can shoot it out. The dirt block will disintegrate after hitting objects, which is more in line with the "dirt" in reality.

concept reference

As you can see, our earth spell is summoned in the form of “pumice”. Beside shooting it, you can also step on it. This can provide players with more ways to create combos against the enemy.

concept reference
When you summon a step, in addition to being able to stand on it, you'll notice that it doesn't disappear immediately. It can stay in the air for a while, players can also "pick it up" and shoot it out.

When the player uses the earth spell while moving forward, you can see that each stone step will be created a bit higher than the previous one. In this way, players can use the steps to make infinite possible combinations to approach the enemy.

Deeper design

In our opinion, shooting dirt and steps was not enough for the spell. On top of this, we added enhanced features, you can create a dirt wall with spikes. The spikes on the wall can be good defense against the enemy, it will cause a certain amount of damage to them.

early concept

What we envision is that this wall can bring defensive function to players, but we can't just let the wall stay there after it is summoned. So based on this, we made reference to the "Claymore mine". When the player summons the wall, you can detonate the wall, which will burst out to deal area damage like the claymore mine.

Refinement

In order to better fit the "dirt" in reality, we have also added smoke to the visual effect to simulate the effect of summoning the dirt block when it is unearthed.

The new spell is in September update, but due to the game engine upgrade, september update content will be only accessible in test channel. You can check out our september update blog and find out the test channel info. Link: September Update
